Enrichment

In addition to our extensive curriculum offer, Birchwood College offers a wide variety of activities as part of our Enrichment
Programme. This is designed to offer you additional activities, apart from your programmes of study, which will widen your experiences. This will help to support your applications for further education or employment by illustrating a broad base of interests.

Students select which activities they undertake, and attend these sessions in the designated periods within their timetables.

Our current Enrichment Programme offers students the chance to join in the following
activities:

  • Duke of Edinburgh Bronze/Silver Award

  • Extended project (This is an AS qualification and carries UCAS points)

  • Debating Club

  • Media Club

  • Photography Club

  • First aid qualification

  • Driving school

  • Lifeguarding

  • Level 2 Sports Leadership Award

  • Level 3 Sports Leadership Award

  • Sports activities (i.e. dodge ball, ultimate Frisbee, squash, lacrosse)

  • Sports teams

  • Extra-curricular timetable

  • Gym membership

  • Primary school placements

  • Secondary School placements

  • Peer mentoring

The enrichment programme is designed to suit the needs of the students at Birchwood College. Further opportunities can be available depending on interest. This contributes to the personalisation of the college programme and ensures all students have access to an enjoyable activity away from the normal curriculum setting.
